Observations about these pictures.
A nice
selections with a some of my favorites.
At nearly 20
minutes old, in 7948D a fawn with wet, curly hair looks
bewildered, but at least it's on its feet. That probably didn't
last as taking a couple of steps or trying to shake it's ears dry often
brought on another tumble into the sand.
I grew up long
before political correctness, so 8099D speaks to me of a little
girl and a little boy, even though I have no idea about their genders. I
see a little girl fawn kissing her mother while the expression on the
little boy fawn suggests he doesn't have a clue yet about what is going
on. At perhaps 30-35 minutes old, the fawns seem to have different
personalities already.
8686D
illustrates the closeness and bonding and illustrates Mama Deer's
seemingly infinite patience in encouraging her little ones. A fawn, now
with a wide ear span, has gotten back to its knees after one of numerous
tumbles into the sand. Mama Deer continues to encourage while the other
fawn stays close to mother.
Reminder:
I have added the time of the photo to give you an idea about how old the
fawns are. At about 7:10 that morning, I discovered Mama Deer standing
in the abandoned sand box and I thought I could see a little one below
her. She had just delivered the two fawns minutes earlier. I'm
guessing they were born at maybe 7 a.m. or a few minutes after. So if
you confirm the photo's time with 7 a.m., you will have a very close
estimate to how old the fawns are in each picture. Click on the
thumbnail picture to see a larger view.
